How we help our Legatees

AFP Legacy provides a wide range of support and financial assistance, to legatees, who are the spouse or child of a deceased AFP employee and we create opportunities for legatee families to remain connected to the AFP, the wider Police Family and each other.

Should a current employee pass away on or off duty, whatever the circumstances (accident, injury or illness), sudden or diagnosed, then support will be offered. This support also extends in the instance where a spouse or child of a current AFP employee passes.

Each year AFP Legacy provides over $130,000 of support to our legatees including:

  • Grief counselling services
  • Bereavement payments
  • Legatee school fee assistance
  • ICT Equipment for Legatees
  • Legatee Birthday donations
  • Medical fee assistance
  • Meal delivery services
  • Cleaning services
  • Gardening services
  • Kokoda Trek experience
  • Attendance at Adventure Kids Camps

Adventure Kids Camps each year in January and July, AFP Legacy legatee children participate in NSW Police Legacy Adventure Camps. An opportunity to join together, share experiences and build relationships that will last a lifetime. Activities on camps range from sailing on Sydney Harbour to sandboarding in Port Stephens.

Opportunities exist to show support by way of sponsorship for these camps, if you’re interested, please contact us.

“Thank you, AFP Legacy for the opportunity to attend the Camp in New Zealand. I had an amazing time. I really look forward to the next camp in January” –  Jack, 13yrs

How we help AFP Employees

AFP Legacy also extends support and financial assistance to AFP employees who contribute to the charity via fortnightly salary deductions. These contributing members can apply to AFP Legacy for assistance at times in need, such as terminal or serious illness diagnosis.

AFP Legacy is there to help those left behind. It has helped in many different ways – from being invited to remember our loved ones on National Police Remembrance Day; to organised outings for the children; or through sending money to assist in bills, school fees and being there as a support if we need assistance…
